walking with you in hope and support...

About Counseling:

Sometimes life can be difficult to handle on your own.  Your concern may be anything including a relationship issue with a loved one, overwhelming stress, sadness, a recent event, or facing a large decision in life. The help of a caring professional can help to feel encouragement and receive insight during troubled times. The choosing of a counselor is an important and personal decision. The therapeutic environment allows the ability to feel safe and comfortable to express your feelings.

I specialize in working with children from the age of 3 to 9 years old, using an individual therapy called play therapy. Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate way for young children to express their feelings and feel support, encouragement, and safety in a therapeutic environment.

About Me:

I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I moved to the big city of Dallas, TX and began school at Southern Methodist University, where I received my Masters in Counseling. I was able to gain experience at different agencies during my time in school, while directly connecting with clients with many different life concerns. I have experience in working with children and individuals who have a history of domestic violence, emotional abuse, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief/bereavement, and trauma.
I am currently attending school from Texas Woman's University to receive my Ph.D. in Early Childhood Development. I also served on the Executive Board for the North Texas Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy as Secretary from 2014-2016.
I have a special interest in working with individuals who have been diagnosed with chronic illness. I was personally diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1 Diabetes) at the age of 6 years old. I know how hard it can be to balance your illness, responsibilities, relationships, and other aspects of life that require your attention, in addition to managing the emotions that come with a diagnosis.
My approach to counseling is ecelectic. I use a variety of tools and techniques to best fit my client's unique needs. I believe that encouragement is important to feel hopeful during life struggles. I strive to design a comfortable environment in which individuals feel safe to express their feelings and feel support.
